Hey fellow foodies and adventurers! Recently, I visited the Hakka Lantern Area at the Pingtung Lantern Festival, and it was absolutely breathtaking! I simply *have* to share this “Light and Shadow Fantasy” journey with you all!
It’s located at Longjing Creek Riverside Park in Chongwen Alley, Neipu Township, Pingtung County – the site of the Neipu Longjing Creek Lantern Show. Honestly, I had no idea such a magical place existed! If it weren’t for a friend’s recommendation, I would have missed this incredible light show!
Imagine this: Night falls, a gentle breeze whispers, and you stroll along the Longjing Creek. The trees lining the path seem to wear mysterious veils under the illumination of the lights. The air is filled with a pleasant aroma – perhaps the delicious scent of Hakka cuisine drifting from afar, or perhaps the enchanting atmosphere of this spectacular light display.
What struck me most was the enormous Hakka lantern on the bridge! A vibrant red, adorned with Hakka characters (unfortunately, my Chinese isn’t great, so I couldn’t read them all!), it shone like the brightest star in the night sky, captivating everyone’s attention. The lighting highlighted its intricate details, making it seem crystal clear, as if telling the long history of Hakka culture.
On either side of the bridge, twinkling LED lights formed a shimmering river of light – incredibly romantic! Walking across this bridge bathed in light and shadow, I felt like I’d stepped into a fairy tale, filled with happiness and wonder.
Beyond the giant lantern, the entire Hakka Lantern Area was meticulously designed, brimming with Hakka elements. While I didn’t delve into the story behind each lantern, their exquisite designs and dazzling lighting effects were enough to captivate me completely!
The Pingtung Lantern Festival Hakka Lantern Area is more than just a visual feast; it’s a stunning interpretation of Hakka culture. If you appreciate poetic and picturesque settings, you absolutely cannot miss this!
